Lancaster Oh

The city of Lancaster, Ohio, is located in Fairfield County. As of the 2010 census, the population was Census, the population was estimated at 37,837. Lancaster is west of Columbus and east of Cincinnati.

The city was founded in 1833 and incorporated in 1841. It was named for Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The village grew rapidly and became a city because of its location on the National Road (U.S. Route 40), which connected east and west until it was replaced by Interstate 70. Lancaster has been called the "mother of all cities" because so many other cities were founded from it, including Indianapolis, Louisville, Lexington, Dayton, Toledo, and Chicago

Lancaster is home to a variety of businesses and industries. The city's largest employer is Fairfield Medical Center, with over 2,000 employees. Other major employers include Lancaster City Schools, Armstrong Cable, Time Warner Cable, Rumpke Waste Services, and the Kroger Company.

The city has a rich history and is home to many historic sites, including the Ohio Glass Museum, the Lancaster Ohio Railroad Museum, the Pleasant Hill Shaker Village, and the Hocking Hills Region. The city also has a variety of parks and recreational facilities, including Fairfield County Park District's Alum Creek State Park, Buckeye Lake State Park, Pickerington Ponds Metro Park, and Heritage Rail Trail.
